Wisharoo Park for Social Development and Self Esteem Review and Giveaway (6 Winners)

Like most homeschooling moms, I am constantly on the look out for exciting websites, books, tv shows, etc. that offer my daughter, 5, creative and positive lessons. While we limit the amount of TV she watches, because I work from home, sometimes TV time and Internet time must be extended so that I can get work done. So, I was really excited about the opportunity to review and explore Wisharoo Park.

Wisharoo Park is a “multimedia edutainment series” designed to help teach children ages 3-6 social skills and building self-esteem. This combination puppet-animation-live action musically supported show is unique in its lessons and its method. My daughter, who is now requesting this as her daily show, was excited to tell us that she is comfortable  spending the night at her Aunt’s house because Wisharoo Park taught her that it’s OK to miss people when you go away because you will see them again. This is an invaluable lesson for any child because it allows them to own their feelings while providing them with a sense of security that they so desperately need. Let’s face it, parents can’t teach it all and as much as we have a hard time admitting it, we could use the help on lessons such as these.

And for added support, they have recently rolled out their multimedia program with an interactive and beautifully designed (sorry, that’s the web designer in me) website.  The online community is home to various Wisharoo Park characters (puppets, human, and animated) who take center stage in videos, games such as  Monkey B Music and Star Catcher, videos and printable coloring and matching activities. Additionally, Mermee and Wisherfish engage children in Story Time right in the center of Wisharoo Park!

The Wisharoo DVD has all 13 episodes from Season 1.  Commercial free and jam-packed of  educational fun, it is sure to give you a great tool to add to your homeschooling curriculum. While we can’t always avoid TV, we can control what it is that they watch. I prefer that my daughter watch commercial-free educational shows for limited time during the day and often turn to DVD’s rather than regular shows on cable. Wisharoo Park is a great addition to our collection. And the adorable (nameable) WishStars finger puppets provide hours of imaginative play!

So, of course there is a giveaway for US residents ages 18+!

  • Three Grand Prize packages each consisting of one Wisharoo Park DVD and six WishStars = a $40 value each
  • Three Runner Up Prizes: a set of six Wish Star finger puppets = a $20 value each

  10. 😀
We Love Wisharoo Park. My Son loves to play the games and the charaters! They are so cute and the lessons are great!

  11. Kristina, my kids really enjoyed playing on the site and I added to the sites they are permitted to see in their accounts. I love the printable activities very much. Z2 really likes the stories and Z1 really likest the puzzles. It’s a nice resource. 🙂

  12. This would be great for my step-daughter’s kids! Geekling is a bit old for it, but I bet he’d watch it with his niece and nephew (he’s a year and a half older). She is just getting started homeschooling and has a new baby, so this would be helpful! They have some cute games on the website.

  13. It looks nice, easy to navigate. The Politeness Party PDF look like it would go along well with our etiquette lessons that we will be starting hopefully before this month is out. I could see us using what is available on their website.

  14. I don’t know…it doesn’t really look like our cup of tea, but it would be nice to have a ready gift on hand for an upcoming birthday party.
